Antihypertensive drugs. Box and blister packs of Aldomet pills used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Each pill contains 250 milligrams of the drug methyldopa. This drug acts on the brain centres which control the cardiovascular system. It dilates blood vessels, reducing their resistance to blood flow, which decreases blood pressure. Side-effects may include drowsiness, depression and liver damage.
