Above shows, a pathway lingering up the summit of a replicated Mount Fuji. This mound was built in 1829 as well as other mini mounds to worship the real Fuji. Since Mount Fuji had ruptured 18 times by this time, these mini summits were a safer climb for the adventurous folks. Women were not permitted to climb Fuji because it was believed that the woman¡¦s presence would violate the mountain¡¦s sanctity. Elders and children were also dissuaded from climbing due to their fragile bodies. This picturesque landscape shows three successful people on the top of the mound admiring the real Fuji.
