The mangrove forest in Katka in the Sundarbans is slowly recovering from the devastation wrought by Cyclone Sidr in late November, 2007. The Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a wildlife sanctuary, is the largest littoral mangrove forest in the world, covering an area of 38,500 sq km, about a third of which is covered in water.
