Oyster toadfish. An oyster toadfish (Opsanus tau) in a tank prior to the launch of the NASA Neurolab mission. Neurolab was launched aboard space shuttle mission STS-90 on 17 April 1998. During the 16 day mission, scientists performed 26 experiments that examined the effects of spaceflight and microgravity on the brain and nervous system. The experiments were held in the Spacelab, a laboratory aboard the space shuttle designed for scientific research. Other animals studied on the Neurolab mission included; rats, mice, swordtail fish, crickets and snails. Image taken on 27 February 1998.
