Studying the Turin Shroud. Professor Giulio Fanti, from the University of Padova, displaying a copy of the Holy Shroud. Said to show an image of Jesus, and to be his death-shroud, this relic is revered by the Christian church, and has been kept at Turin, Italy, for centuries. Radiocarbon dating has suggested a later origin from about 500 years ago, a theory supported by comparisons with 15th century artworks. However, scientists are unable as yet to explain how the image was produced.
