3479594 The slave ship, 1819; (add.info.: The slave ship. The French slaver \'Le Rodeur\' sailed from Bonny in Africa in April 1819 with a cargo of 60 slaves. By the time the ship reached Guadeloupe on 21 June all the slaves and all but one of the crew had caught an infection and become blind.The \'solitary eye\' was able to bring the vessel into port, but went blind three days later.
