Borsig's factory at Moabit. 19th-century artwork of the factory established by German industrialist August Borsig (1804-1854) at Moabit, near Berlin, Germany. Borsig had founded a train locomotive manufacturing company in 1837. By the 1840s, his company was expanding and the Moabit ironworks became operational in 1849. This was followed by a third factory in 1850, bringing the number of employees to 1800. Borsig gained great wealth from his factories, which produced hundreds of locomotives. This engraving dates from 1888.
