Hemispherium scientists. Computer scientists cont- rolling the display on the virtual reality (VR) Hemispherium. This is the world's finest immersive VR facility in 1999. The screen is a 6 metre wide dome, mounted vertically, giving an authentic 180 degree field of view in both horizontal and verti- cal planes. These scientists are controlling the projectors which provide the real-time computer graphics shown on the screen. Here, it shows a corridor in Guisborough Priory, North Yorkshire, England, as it would have looked in the 12th-14th centuries. This facility can be used for building design, virtual tourism and pilot training. It was opened in 1998 at Teesside University, England.
