This view of the body of the fungus (the mycelium) shows a mass of interweaving hyphal threads, the vegetative part of the organism. Geotrichosis is a rare systemic infection which usually only occurs in patients with an ineffective immune response system, such as those with AIDS or cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
